The pharmacy sector, in fact, has been a leader in health IT with its usage of electronic prescribing and has much to offer the broader health care industry as it develops digital systems that improve performance while ensuring patient basic safety and personal privacy. AMCP, for example, has worked with pharmacy stakeholders to develop e-prescribing specifications and continues to function closely with sector to greatly help improve pharmacists’ ability to offer medicine therapy management through the use of standardized coding. AMCP also is particularly happy with the pharmacy’s prominent role at work of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology draft Interoperability Roadmap for 2015-2025.However, U.S. Hospitals are dropping short in other key areas, the CDC researchers found. Only 26 % of hospitals make sure that healthful babies are solely fed breast milk, for example. Newborns shouldn’t be fed infant method unless it’s a medical requirement, based on the Ten Steps guidelines. And simply one-third of hospitals provide ongoing support for breast-feeding mothers after they’ve left a healthcare facility. This support range from a follow-up check out, a telephone call, or referrals to breast-feeding support groups. The CDC experts also discovered that only 45 % of hospitals kept mothers and babies together throughout the whole hospital stay, which gives opportunities to breast-feed and helps moms learn their baby’s feeding cues. The CDC report also noted that moms who breast-feed are less inclined to get breast cancer, ovarian cancer, type 2 heart and diabetes disease.
